NITDA Launches NAVSA Empowerment Program in Katsina – In order to build sustainable digital agriculture, the Federal Government of Nigeria has launched the Farmers Empowerment Program through the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) under the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy. Through the National Village Adoption for Smart Agriculture (NAVSA) in Katsina State.
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is a public service agency established by the NITDA Act 2007 to implement the ICT policy of the Federal Department of Communications and Digital Economy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is responsible for developing programs that ensure the implementation of ICT-related activities in the country. NITDA is also mandated to implement policy guidelines for ICT operations in Nigeria. Play an advisory role in copyright law by reviewing and revising laws related to the acquisition of software and technology. Many of these activities are achieved through the organization of workshops that meet the training needs of workers, civil servants and the education sector.
National Information Technolgy offers smart irrigation systems powered by green energy to support year-round production, smart seeds to improve broiler survival, and soil intelligence systems to support data-driven farming.
NAVSA is part of a federal government initiative implemented by the National Information Technology Development Authority (NITDA) under the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy to transform agriculture, connect ecosystem players and agricultural value chains, and define agriculture as a business. contribute to GDP and economic growth. The National Adopted Village for Smart Agriculture Empowerment Program (NAVSA) was held at the Muhammadu Sunusi II ICT Hall, Al Kalam University, Katsina State.

Build a sustainable digital platform that provides diverse information to more than half of the players in the agricultural ecosystem in Nigeria to ensure a high-performing agricultural economy.
Collaborate with relevant agricultural programs to introduce digital capabilities that will create about 6 million new job opportunities in the agricultural value chain in Nigeria.
