About The University

Yobe State University is located in Damaturu, Yobe State, Nigeria. It was established under the Yobe state law in 2006 by Alh. Bukar Abba Ibrahim, the then Executive Governor of Yobe State(1999-2007).

YSU Admission Requirements for all Courses.

  1. Biochemistry

Direct entry: Two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Chemistry, Mathematics Physics and Biology.

NCE/ND/HND in related field plus UTME requirement

O’ level: Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology

UTME subject: Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.

  1. Physics

Direct entry: NCE/Two ‘A’ level A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics or Chemistry.

O’level: Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and any other Science

UTME subject: Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or Biology.

  1. Physics with Electronics

Same as Physics

  1. Chemistry

Direct entry: (i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and any one of Physics, Mathematics or Biology.

(ii) ND/NCE with good grades in relevant ‘O’ level subjects.

O’level: Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology

UTME subject: Chemistry and two of Physics, Biology and Mathematics.

  1. Mathematics

Direct entry: (i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and any other science subject.

(ii) NCE with at least merit in Mathematics and one of Physics, Chemistry or Economics.

O’ level: Five SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry.

UTME subject: Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry and Economics or Geography.

  1. Microbiology

Direct entry: Two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and any one from Biology, Zoology or Botany.

O’ level: Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

UTME subject: Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics.

  1. Computer science

Direct entry: (i) Two A/L passes in science subjects including Mathematics

(ii) NCE with at least Merit in Mathematics and one other Science or Social Science subject.

O’ level: Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics plus two other science subjects.

UTME subject: Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agric Science, Economics and Geography.

  1. Information and communication science

Same as computer science

  1. Biology

Direct entry: (i) Two A, level passes from Chemistry, Biology, Botany/Zoology.

(ii) NCE accepted with at least merit level pass.

O’ level: Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Maths/Physics.

UTME subject: Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.

  1. Accounting

Direct entry: Two ‘A’ level passes including Economics

O’ level: Five SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects.

UTME subject: Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject

  1. Business Administration

Same as accounting

  1. Public Administration

Same as accounting

  1. Economics and developmental studies

Direct entry: one of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government.

O’ level: Mathematics, Economics and any two of Arts or Social Science subjects.

UTME subject: any of Government, History, Geography, Lit-in-English, French and CRK/IRK.

  1. Geography

Direct entry: Two ‘A’ level passes in Geography and any one of Economics., Government, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics

O’ level: Five SSCE credit passes in English Language, Geography, and any three from Arts or Social Science subjects with at least a pass in Mathematics.

UTME subject: Geography and two other Arts or Social Science subjects

  1. Political science

Direct entry: Two ‘A’ level passes including Government or History.

O’ level: Five SSCE credit passes in Government or History, English Language and three other subjects. At least a pass in Mathematics is required.

UTME subject: Government or History plus two other Social Science/Arts subjects.

  1. Psychology

Same as political science

  1. Sociology

Same as political science

UTME subject: Three Social Science or Arts subjects
