Physically challenged man detained for drug trafficking at Lagos airport

Ehiarimwiam Osaromo Emmanuel, 53, a physically challenged man, has been detained for drug trafficking by agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the departure area of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos.
Femi Babafemi, the agency’s spokeswoman, said that the suspect was detained on Sunday, August 28, as he was traveling from Doha to Italy on a Qatar Airways flight. It was discovered that he had hidden 5,000 tramadol (225mg) tablets in his luggage.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspect is a frequent traveler who often travels with lots of bags containing mainly food items, body cream, hair attachment and drinks. The suspect was said to have presented his usual large goods to operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement for search but held on to some packages, which were retrieved from him and properly searched during which the illicit drugs were found.
