Mason Greenwood arrested over rape claims as Man Utd suspended him
Mason Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault after Manchester United suspended him following social media allegations.
According to Greater Manchester Police, they are aware of “social media images and videos that one woman posted that report incidents of physical violence.”
Manchester United previously stated that the player would not be able to return to training or games until further notice.
The club claims that they do not “condone violence of any kind” and that they learned about the allegations on social media but will not comment further until the “facts has been established.”
Mason Greenwood has never responded to the allegations leveled against him.
The 20-year-old footballer, who made his debut for the club in March 2019, signed a four-year contract extension until February 2021 after rising through the ranks.
