Career of Michael Jai White

White began acting in 1989 and was given a number of small parts up until 1995, when he was cast as Mike Tyson, a heavyweight boxer, in the HBO film Tyson. He also portrayed the title role in the superhero movie Spawn from 1997, making him the first African American to play the lead superhero in a significant motion picture.

White starred in Universal Soldier: The Return alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme in 1999. He was also chosen to play Steven Seagal’s opposite in Exit Wounds in 2001. In many of his performances, including The Legend of Bruce Lee and Undisputed II: Last Man Standing, he constantly displays his martial arts prowess. In 2004, White was also cast in Silver Hawk.
